Return to school

Januar 12, 2009 at 4:51 vormittags (Highschool)

This week I returned to school and it was about time. It was getting a little bit boring to stay at home. I was happy to see all my friends again and we had a lot to talk about. They liked my new shoes and clothes, that I had bought from my Christmas money. I didn’t have problems to return to math and science and the other subjects. I remembered the things easily.

my Nike Shox NZ

Absolutely different was off-season. I had a very hard time to do the exercises again, after doing nothing in 2 weeks. I lost my good physical shape, like about half of the other did. The ones that didn’t have problems worked out during the holidays. After Monday’s workout all my muscles were hurting. I didn’t feel much better the next morning but when the bell rang at the end of the third  period, I had to go to off-season practice again. 4 Minutes time to come to the locker room, dress up and show up in the weight room. For every second you are late, you have to do push-ups. Luckily I made it in time, but some of the new guys didn’t make it, because they didn’t know the rules. The coaches made an exception for this day. We happen to have new guys, because some of the other sport season are over, and so they automatically join the off-season program, unless they quit athletics and take another class instead.

Educationally the week was easy, but off-season was very hard. I had to go through all the work-outs with sore muscles…

We started electricity in physics and did some new stuff in Calculus. In U.S. History we are discussing the “Great Depression” in 1929. It’s interesting, because there are many parallels to today’s politics.

We didn’t really get an official report card for the semester, but I know my semester grades. I have just A’s , except for a B in English. English is just so boring. We are talking about American Literature and poems and that kind of stuff. The class average is 74. That’s very bad, because you need to have a 70 to pass the class. Maybe it’s because we are mainly boys in this class :D

The professional football is getting ready for the highlight of the season: “THE SUPERBOWL”. Right now the playoff games are being played. The Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs by one game :(     In the next days the Semi-finals are being played. I think the Pittsburgh Steelers will play and win against the Arizona Cardinals in the Superbowl (Final). They will probably show the game on “Eurosport” in Germany.

I’m looking forward to the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama at the 20th of January.

Stay warm  ;) ;)       ,

Start of District Football

Oktober 13, 2008 at 7:04 vormittags (Highschool)

District Football is played every year by every highschool in the USA and it’s the most important issue in the football season. The local Highschools of the same size are playing for the Championship in one district. There are 6 Teams in our District:
“we” Whitesboro, Gainesville, Sanger, Celina, Argyle, Prosper.
If you are in the first 3 teams of your District you go to the playoffs, in which all 3 best teams of all districts of your district’s size of Texas play against each other. I’m not sure, but I guess there are many small groups at the beginning. You can imagine the whole playoffs as a big tournament and in the final game, if you reach it, you will play for the State-Championship !

Friday we had our first district game against Gainesville, which we won 15-13 !!!!
Holy shit that has been an experience ! After half of the game the score was 7-7 and we haven’t given our best and we haven’t used many chances to score a Touchdown. Unfortunately I missed my fieldgoal from 42 meters, which would have given us 3 extrapoints.
In the break, oh my god, I have never lived something like that and you can’t imagine it, unless you would have been with us in the lockeroom. We have been shouted on so terribly long and loud, that there is no comparison in my soccer career, that would give you a small imagination of what it feels like, at all. 4 coaches shouted at us one after the other. The headcoach lost his voice after shouting for 10 minutes. All in all 3 guys cryed for their emotions and they are no cry-babies at all ! I was so aggressive when I left the locker room as I was the last time when … no I have never been as aggressive. And that happened to all of us. Than we continued playing and we hit them as hard, that they broke just one more time through our defense, but unfortunately they scored their touchdown at this moment. We broke about 20 times through their defense but we hadn’t got luck with our TD’s.
Anyhow we scored one touchdown and I kicked the extrapoint. Therefore we won 15 to 13 and we and our coaches have been satiesfied .

4 district games left and next week we play in Argyle, who lost this week. Therefore they will be very hot !

It was the first time in our Highschool history beat Gainesville and even that we scored a touchdown against them ! Man we make history and there is much room left !

Today I was shopping in Sherman. I bought a jeans for 50 $ and a cool cowboy-belt with a big buckle (Guertelschnalle) for a sum of 42 $. That was really the cheapest I could get, because the really good cowboy belts cost about 60 $ and the huge and nice buckles cost about 100 $.

School is going well and it’s a lot of fun, except for chemistry, because I don’t learn anything new…
But I can’t choose the more difficult class, because it doesn’t fit with my schedule.

lovely greetings to everybody,
Simi

1st varsity game

September 28, 2008 at 2:20 vormittags (Highschool)

Yesterday I had my first varsity game and it was really perfect !

We played against Aubrey, who had homecoming, and we beat them 21-11. The varsity players are so nice and cool, and they are also great football players. I wanted to get number 27 (nr. 7 is taken), but finally I got number 3, because the coach wanted me to…  But number 3 should have been a good omen, because I kicked 3 PAT’s ( kick after the touchdown) and I scored 3 Extrapoints. My kick-offs were also very good and our team played impressing. It was effort and aggressiveness, which let us win. The atmosphere was fantastic although we haven’t played at home. The band played and we had to do all this other stuff: National anthem, praying, and the school song. After the game we shook hands and then we celebrated our win. Later we had sandwiches and drinks before we left Aubrey.

Our coaches were satisfied, we were satisfied and I am satisfied, because I achieved 100% of what I could do to help my team to win !

Yours sincerely,

Simi

3rd schoolweek

September 15, 2008 at 4:22 vormittags (Highschool)

The second and third schoolweek were really nice. Now I really feel involved in school und community. I found many nice friends. School has really started and has become more interesting now. I have to write one test a week in every subject ( multi-pic-choice). I got some hard homework which let me stay up until late into the night. The first grades were ok (average grades). I had my second footballgame which was much better than my first. I kicked really good and scored 2 extrapoint out of two chances. I tasted Mexican and Chinese food. I prefere Mexican food, which is really hot and I really like the real Mexican Tortillas. The Chinese food was ok, but all in all I would say it`s a little bit to sweet for me. I had to read a book of my choice for English and I read “the wave”, because I already read it in Germany and I know the movie. So that was really easy to understand for me. Who really knows me understands me, because than you also know that I don`t like reading. I have to write a book report about the book, which is much hard work for me. I really enjoy my Physics class, because we are just 5 students and we have a great, really funny teacher ! We have much fun together and our next project is the construction of a rocket, made out of two 2 liter bottles.

The weather is really great, except now, because of the hurricanes who causes so much rain and wind here. Luckily they don`t cause any big damage here.

Next week we will have homecoming, which will be a great event of our school. I am really looking forward to that and I am excited who is going to be the Homecoming-King and -Queen.

This week our footballteam was on TV. K-TEN filmed us during practise and got an interview from the trainer and of the quarterback of the varsity-team. At this day we trained in a horse ranch, because the weather was so bad, that it was impossible to train outside. I think that makes clear how important football in American schools is and how popular it is in the community.

Tomorrow I have a test in Ap Calculus and in Ap Physics, so I have to study a little bit now.

I hope you are fine,

Simi

1st Footballgame

September 7, 2008 at 4:40 vormittags (Highschool)

Hi Germans!

Yesterday  I had my first footballgame. I played in the Junior-Varsity-Team (2nd best team of Highschool) , because I have so much paperwork to do, before I will be able to play in the Varsity-team (best team of Highschool). The most players of the Varsity-team are seniors (12th graders, which is last grade of Highschool). I am a Junior (11th grade) and there are also freshmen (9th grade) and sophomores (10th grade) at our Highschool. The Varsity players are all very strong and big, because most of them have played football all there life, which means they had to lift weights 3 times a week all their life. I have to lift weights 3 times a week now and I am almost the weakest in the Team^^.

The game was a little bit boring for me, because I just had 3 contacts with the ball as the kicker of the team, because our offense was so bad. We lost 19-7 against Cisco. A touchdown means to enter the endzone of the opponent team counts 6 points.  We did one Touchdown. After that the scored team has the opportunity to score the  PAT (Point after Touchdown) . In this process the scored team tries to kick the ball from the 10 Yards Line (ca 9 meter) between  the goalposts. Because this is the job of the Kicker, this was my job. I kicked it through the goalposts and therefore I scored one extrapoint for my team. But all in all we played meanly. All in all we had to drive for 7-8 hours to get to Cisco and back to Whitesboro. Anyway the atmosphere was amazing, because there were about 800 people and our band played.

My keyboarding-class is cool, I can type 11 keys right now. School is exhausting. Tomorrow we will eat chinese foot. I already tried Mexican foot and I liked it.

greets,

Simi
